Hi, in the end it was apparently not the only issue I had. I also found IDLE failing on a socket timeout error (strangely enough not catched by the socket.timeout handler, but as a socket.error exception, however the handling is the same). I don't know if it's ok to say that when idle is used, socket timeouts should be ignored, so for my local case I changed the handler and removed errorexit = True, but it might not be ideal for the general case.
