Anyone using getmail with ProtonMail Bridge?

I am contemplating switching from Gmail to ProtonMail and one of the things
that is important to me is to be able to maintain a local copy of my
mailbox, which I currently do via getmail. While client communication with
ProtonMail is via their clients (which provide for the decryption of the
messages which are stored encrypted), they also provide their Bridge tool
which provides IMAP and SMTP access, intended mainly to support clients
like Outlook, Thunderbird & Apple Mail.

I am curious, has anyone used getmail? Opinions on your experience are
certainly welcome. Thanks.
