This is somehow similar to the option > 'max_message_size' but for dates. getmail does not know the the actual age or origin time of any messages; all it knows is, if you do not configure getmail to delete messages immediately after retrieving them, it can tell "I previously saw this message, first on <such date>". > I then realized there is no such feature (yet) available so I decided to > download the code and dig into it. Thank you, but no, not really. The normal way to handle that situation is to let getmail retrieve all your mail the first time you use it; you can then manually bulk-delete messages prior to the date of interest in your MUA. Another option is to delete older mail from your webmail view before downloading with getmail. Since you (obviously...) then configure getmail to only download previously-unseen messages, the old mail will never bother you again. An option that only a small fraction of users would ever use, and even then would only use once, is not a good cost-benefit candidate for inclusion.
