Well, yes, but those hostnames have nothing to do with the example.com domain we are using for e-mail.

And those hostnames would not be in a public DNS, because they are internal computers. Think of the built-in DNS server in Microsoft Windows 
Server. In fact, you could be using Bonjour, mDNS or something fancy. No names (IP addresses) will also do.

I fail to see how I am faking anything.

I do have a proper e-mail server on the Internet with a fixed IP address and correct DNS records. I am renting that service from my ISP or 
my hosting provider. I have mentioned that a few times.

My internal Dovecot server is using getmail. Any outgoing e-mails are being relayed to the legitimate, public mail server I am renting from 
my ISP or my hosting provider. I have mentioned that a few times too.

Nothing fake there, is it?
