Unfortunately, users tend not to read documentation. If they have a problem
with getmail6, many will just do a web search for "getmail" and then report it
to my mailing list, or to my personal email.

This has happened many times. It wastes a lot of my time because I frequently
have to spend time trying to understand the users' report, try to reproduce
the issue, trace through the code to figure out how it could do what they
report... only to find out later they're not using getmail, they're using your
project.

Unfortunately, your project has had exactly that effect.

You fully have the right to fork getmail - that's why it's under the GPLv2
(only). However, if you're going to distribute something with bugs that
"real" getmail doesn't have, you're fucking with my project by polluting the
name.

I sent email to you directly recently asking you to change the name of your
project to something that does not contain the word "getmail" to solve this
problem, but I haven't got a response from you yet. I don't care what you
call it, as long as it does not use the word "getmail" or anything confusingly
similar (like "gotmail" etc).

Please commit to dropping "getmail" from your project's name, as it causes
nothing but trouble for me and my getmail. You could say you're crapping all
over getmail's branding.

Thanks,

Charles
