It doesn't matter if it's the "modern" way or not. If Charles doesn't want to make a gitlab or github repo, that is their (didn't want to assume a pronoun!) prerogative. If you want to contribute to getmail, you have to do it Charles' way, period. Or, you can *fork* it, but then you should change the name, something Charles has also politely requested given the number of times people have confused it for *real* getmail.

Yes, all of that is absolutely true. If you want to do that, that's *fine*. But you should change the name, which is all Charles has requested.

Just stop with this bullshit. If you want to merge your changes back to getmail, Charles has made it abundantly clear how it should be done. If you *don't* want to merge your changes, that is also fine, but then you should change the name (again, something Charles has made abundantly clear).

Given Charles' requests, which are utterly reasonable, you really should do one of those two things and stop complaining to the mailing list.
