slight differences in getmail message vs downloaded message

I just noticed something.  If in gmail, I go to the message and
'Download Original', then, use getmail to suck over a message and then
compare them, I see some slight differences.  And whitespace
differences like end of line is not the same.

For example, here's a spam message that I diffed (getmail on left, gmail download on right):

I have other examples too where headers that were continued on lines got put back on one line (unwrapped).

I was just wondering if this is gmail's imap client or if this is
getmail modifying, cleaning up the message somehow?

I'm using this to report spam, ideally, I really want to keep things
just how they were.
