I've not seen it (that I recall) in previous reports. There does appear to be a spate of reports like yours from other (non-getmail) users. Some report that disabling IPv6 in Windows fixes it, but you didn't say you were using Windows. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1144723/office365-email-imap-user-is-authenticated-but-not.html If that's not it, there have been a number of users whose organizations use the Microsoft-run office365.com to host their email domains, who reported that their organizations changed authentication policies for their domains, and that those changes meant regular POP & IMAP clients could no longer access their email. Some of these were people at various universities, though I don't remember if any were at USC. Can you either (1) see if your IT department / mail admins announced any changes to authentication with o365 over the last few months, or (2) see if some other plain IMAP(s) client (i.e. not Outlook or whatever) can access your email with the same credentials?
