Mine works, and I have the same lack of delimiters.  So probably
not your problem. 

To get around UTF-8 problems you might try setting LANG=C before you
start the installation process for Date::Manip and then doing the same
thing before you start grepmail.  Of course if plain ascii doesn't
work for you, this won't help.
