Fred, in this case, is ifile author Jason Rennie, who's been silent
lately -- I'm assuming he's out of town or something.

If you look at the ifile faq, the internal structure of the ifile
database is documented.  I suspect a little work with emacs might
solve your problem, but I couldn't swear to it.
