I found using a simple procmail recipe with two shell scripts to be
completely sufficient to integrate ifile with mbox delivery. With
this method, I'm free to use any available mbox client.

ifile.procmail is a small collection of shell scripts and
instructions for integrating ifile with traditional mbox delivery.

Why integrate a spam filter directly into a mail client?

BTW, ifile is simply amazing. I ran a few hundred spam messages and
about 50 nonspam messages through ifile. The first few days, I
manually analyzed incoming mail to measure accuracy. When ifile
picked out a legitimate message I had missed from a list of spam I
would have otherwise deleted, I was convinced. As far as I'm
concerned, my spam problem is solved.
