yes, i think it would help.  you get bug-tracking, mirrors,
mailing-lists etc.  i don't know much about savannah, and people
thought it was only for GNU projects, but me thinks any open-source
like project can make it there.

a freshmeat entry would also be neat.

if only you wouldn't forget to announce new releases on this list, i'd
be happy with the current situation as well ;)
