I was thinking of the European countries in which it is (or used to
be) generally popular, in certain circles anyway, to go on vacation
for longer periods than the typical 2-week vacations to which
Americans are (or used to be) accustomed.  E.g. "summer vacations".

I'm probably way out of date on this, though.  That's what I get for
being a largely-at-home consultant for the past 15 or so years.
