IM2000-related thesis

Folks,

As a part of a BSc(Hons) in computing I completed in 2002, I wrote a thesis on 
an IM2000-like extension to SMTP. I have mixed feelings as to the value of 
this thesis in any practical sense, and I'm currently working on a PhD which 
is what the thesis "should have been" (a replacement for SMTP et al, rather 
than an extension of it). Whatever the case, it may be food for thought, and 
I might as well share it rather than let it sit and rot. Members of this list 
will most likely be more interested in sections 3 and 4 of the thesis 
(analysis of the problem and ways to modify SMTP to address it).

Feedback welcomed, but bear in mind that I'm not holding this up as "the 
solution" -- more as an "interesting idea".
