Maildrop / Maildir naming standards

Hey all,

I'm fiddeling with a patch for courier/maildrop for our systems to
shorten the name of the dropped files and I just noticed that binc can't
handle files begining with a dot and I was just wondering if this isnt
recommended use in Maildir?

And does anyone know of any other good maildrop-like program that can do
regexp filtering of mail? (I'm hoping to drop courier-*).
