You are forgetting the pain of maintaining a library, the cpu usage of 
initilizing the .so and the added complexity for admins.

And beside, the generated size of the text code is almost half of 
bincimapd's since it only uses some parts of the code.

Unless we have functions that we like to distribute to other 
applications I don't see the need for a library like that right now.
