I have moved >10,000 messages from one folder to another within kmail, and the 
result is near-instant.

I have moved 200 messages at a time within squirrelmail, and this is also very 
fast.

If I move ~100 messages from one bincimap account to another, they go at a 
rate of about 1 per second.
