ah. that makes more sense.

the biggest advantage for me is the fact that all of my message  
folders are stored on the server. this means that i can set up the  
IMAP settings and use any email program to access the same messages-  
for example, i normally use the iMac at home but i'm typing this on  
my iBook at a linux install-fest... i can also use the webmail  
interface on the server, or set up thunderbird, or whatever is  
available- and in all of them, i have the full contents of all of my  
folders to refer back to.
