Log: Certificate is bad

Hi folks,

I run a (I think) pretty standard exim/courier configuration. I had to
migrate to another machine and newer OS. Everything runs smooth except
only one but important thing: imapd-sll does not like my certificate
configuration. Insecure via port 143 runs well.

OS: Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS
ii courier-authdaemon 0.71.1-2build1
ii courier-authlib 0.71.1-2build1
ii courier-authlib-userdb 0.71.1-2build1
ii courier-base 1.0.16-3build3
ii courier-imap 5.0.13+1.0.16-3build3
ii libcourier-unicode4:amd64 2.1.2-2

In imapd-ssl
TLS_CERTFILE=/etc/courier/imapd.pem

so in /etc/courier
-rw-r----- 1 courier courier 9942 Oct 30 13:21 imapd.pem
-rw-r----- 1 courier courier 9942 Oct 30 13:21 imapd.pem.1.2.3.4

Hardlink with the IP appended to the same file. I tried with the
original auto generated pem and with one from letsencrypt like I used to
do in the old setting. Whenever I try to connect tls via port 993 a log
line appears "Certificate is bad". I am pretty sure imapd does not even
look at the file: stat shows no update on atime.
What do I miss?

TIA
Hardy
