My understanding of Google's recent / soon upcoming changes is that DKIM 
/or/ SPF will suffice.

As such there is no /requirement/ for DKIM.

The requirement as I understand it is that there be some form of 
authentication.  The accepted form of authentication are DKIM and SPF.
