The Debian maintainer should be on this list, and you'll have to wait unt=

he pops in, I'm not familiar with the Debian package. But I can offer som=
e =20
troubleshooting tips to gather more information. Try running the esmtpd =20
startup script directly and see if any useful error pops out.

The first step is to find where it's installed in the Debian package:

dpkg -L courier | grep '/esmtpd$'

I would guess that the Debian package installs it as /usr/sbin/esmtpd or =
/=20
sbin/esmtpd. It might be a symlink to the script that's installed elsewhe=
re. =20
Anyway once you find the esmtpd startup script, see if anything useful sh=
ows =20
up with:

esmtpd start
