To be honest, I checked the headers that preline adds and they have 
other byte lengths.

But, how should that be possible at all?

preline alters the mail and then pipes it to maildrop. Maildrop decides 
where to store and chooses the filename. preline is out of reach when 
mail get saved to Maildir.
