Is sendmail compiled against saslv2? try mail# sendmail -bt -d0.1 Version 8.x.y Compiled with: DNSMAP IPV6_FULL LOG MAP_REGEX MATCHGECOS MILTER MIME7TO8 MIME8TO7 NAMED_BIND NETINET NETINET6 NETUNIX NEWDB NIS PIPELINING SASLv2 SCANF SOCKETMAP STARTTLS TLS_EC TLS_VRFY_PER_CTX USERDB XDEBUG You should see SASLv2 in the list. It's sendmail's job to read Sendmail.conf and it has to be in the sasl2 lib directory.
