Ok, looking at the file /var/log/maillog, it looks like the user tried to delete downloaded folders and somehow caught the shared mailbox, too.
In the maillog, for each folder in the shared mailbox, there is an entry:
Rename: shared.[mailbox] > user.[username].Trash.[mailbox]
Deleted mailbox shared.[mailbox]
