Hi,

our Cyrus murder runs now with version 3.10.2 – 2 backends, 2 frontends, 1
mupdate.
We xferred  ~ 14000 users mailboxes and ~ 500 shared folders with
subfolders. All in all it runs very good.

We’re facing a problem with shared folders. Our shared folders have this
scheme:  "group.sub.name"
The problem occurs when creating a new shared folder "group.sub.othername"
on backend "packet":

2026-04-28T12:57:40.824198+02:00 packet cyrus/imaps[2647805]: MUPDATE: can't
commit mailbox entry for 'group'
2026-04-28T12:57:40.828960+02:00 packet cyrus/imaps[2647805]: Fatal error:
Internal error: assertion failed: imap/imapd.c: 1494: !open_mailboxes_exist()

Hm, "group" shouldn’t be a mailbox, at least it wasn't on cyrus-imapd
3.2.11. But now there is :

"group": {"name": "group", "mtime": "1776145377", "uidvalidity": "0",
"createdmodseq": "0", "foldermodseq": "0", "mbtype": "er", "partition": "2",
"server": "parcel…", "acl": {"anyone": "p"}, "name_history": []},

It’s located on the other backend server "parcel". So all new shared
mailboxes starting with "group" can only be created on this backend. Do I
miss a configuration, or is the intentional? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Frank
