Just to tune I also use maildir++ format with virtual mailboxes, so would be happy to have this feature back!

(even though virtual mailboxes are buggy for me too, for example see https://dovecot.org/mailman3/archives/list/[email protected]/thread/XK4JVTAU3ECU25RKTSPLJ3BSVJJNEHN5/#WBWPUHR64AWKM2OF6LNQIOQ7D2NBDFA6, but that's another story)
