No, I am frustrated because the uw-imap library happens to be used in
PHP, and does not play well in somewhat larger linux configuration
because of file descriptor limitations in the select() implementation in
linux.

I'm having a beer, that's a good start.

When and where did I give you the impression that I expect anybody else
to fix my problem ? To remind you: the only sentence I typed here with a
question mark in it, was to inform if this topic was addressed earlier
on this mailing list.

As far as I know, I did not fail to do so, and as far as I know, I do
not have a problem: I have made my own workaround - however dirty - and
am able to make this work for me. This topic came up because somebody
else asked a question about something that I ran into earlier. I did not
come here to complain, did I ?

I think it would be wise to let this discussion rest. For reasons not
completely clear to me, you have chosen to take this thread to a
somewhat different level than I hoped for. Let me thank you once more
for your valuable input on this topic,

bye now
