I've used UW-Imap for over 10 years on HP-UX, Linux, and BSD. Old versions
of some OSs had issues with long names (HP-UX from 20 years ago), but it
was the underlying OS & tools, not UW-Imap's fault.

Never had a user with a name longer than 32 characters but had a few
over 24 characters.
