You are absolutely right - my mistake

When I do a 'ldd smtpd', the ssl and crypto libraries don't show up.

When I do a crle, the /usr/local/ss/lib path is included

When I make makefiles, it is exactly as above, ie:

make makefiles CCARGS="-DUSE_SSL -I/usr/local/ssl/include" 
AUXLIBS="-L/usr/local/ssl/lib -lssl -lcrypto"

Does this make any sense?
