Recovering user files and exporting address book

Hi, i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to recover files lost when a user was accidentally deleted. Recreating the user gave me the old address book, but no old messages. I'm also trying to export an existing personal address book to import into the account of a different user. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
