I too was seeing this Jamm error on CentOS 5 (Redhat Enterprise
Edition 5).  I solved this by doing two things:

1) Install the Sun version of Java JRE -

2) If tomcat is not installed, Install tomcat using: yum install tomcat5

3) Install log4j.jar and common-logging.jar in /usr/share/tomcat5/common/lib

After making these changes, I was able to login to Jamm, add a domain
and an email address within that domain.
