Thanks for your reply, I am using Fodora4 + postfix + openldap + dovecot +
MailScanner + JAMM

I have checked the ldap logs but nothing special around the time when the
error happens.

My dovecot.conf has a line poiting to dovecot-ldap.conf as below :

The content of dovecot-ldap.conf :

Do you know where can I configure my ldap lookup timeout ?

Hello Lai,


it seems that for some reasons the LDAP lookups from postfix sometimes fail
with a timeout.


I would suggest to look if you see some messages from openldap (or whatever
ldap server you use)


arround the times you see the postfix warnings.


Perhaps it=92s also a peak of incomming (spam) mails which overloads the ld=
ap
server for a short time.


Sometimes we see spam delivery attempts to almost all email addresses
[email protected] up to [email protected] with several thousand
requests per minute.


What is the ldap lookup timeout, perhaps you can increase it.

Hi all,


My JAMM server has been running for 4 years without major problems, but
recently i notice following warning messages from


maillog :


warning: dict_ldap_lookup: Search error -5: Timed out
Feb 11 23:53:27 server2 postfix/trivial-rewrite[8859]: fatal:
ldap:domains(0,100): table lookup problem
Feb 11 23:53:28 server2 postfix/smtpd[12499]: warning: premature
end-of-input on private/rewrite socket while reading input attribute name
Feb 11 23:53:28 server2 postfix/smtpd[12499]: warning: problem talking to
service rewrite: Success
Feb 11 23:53:28 server2 postfix/master[3746]: warning: process
/usr/libexec/postfix/trivial-rewrite pid 8859 exit status 1


Above messages appears many times per day.


My server is FC4. I have tried using sldapindex, db_recover to repair the
ldap database, but the problem persist.


I have changed the NIC and incresed the RAM from 512MB to 1GB but the
problem still happen. My server is currently


hosting 30 domains with total about 300 users, there is no performance
issues on the server and no changes on server


configuration except adding or deleting user accounts. Many days and hours
has been spent to search from Google but


cannot find any solutions. Lastly I subscribe this mailing list and
hopefully someone can help me.....
