This may be because people respect and  admire you as a role model or it may simply be that people feel that the way to  succeed is to mimic the behaviour patterns of senior managers. However, the admiration was somewhat  tempered by the revelation, following retirement and a bitter divorce, of  massive fringe benefits that were simply indefensible. But,  in our view, leadership should be seen as something we do with other people.
