Procedure for notifying bugs

Hello! Having worked for a few days with Mahogany, I found some bugs and added them to bugzilla as bugs 765, 766, 767. I noticed though that bugzilla had some bugs going back to the beginning of 2000 and when I entered the bugs the software said there was no maintainer. Is the bugs mailing list now the preferred way of reporting bugs?
