This sounds the same problem as I had and reported ages ago - that Mahogany crashes frequently when checking my mail due to running out of memory. I never could reolve it because I couldn't get M to build on my system under Cygwin, and despite submitting a ton of diffs to make changes to the code to get it to build, they were never checked in, so I gave up. If someone could send me a Win2k build with debug symbols in it, I could see if I can get a stack trace of my crash.
