 I tried to fix this bug many, many times and wasn't able to do it yet. The
problem is that while something is definitely wrong, I can't reproduce it
(it happens once every week here on average maybe and *never* when I debug
it) and I can't see anything wrong from just reading the code.

 This bug also manifests itself by a presence of "phantom" messages:
sometimes the list control thinks there are more elements it than messages
in the folder. It's not fatal but it's definitely very annoying and so it
would be great to fix it but I just can't do it in the time I have now.
