hourglass during address dialogue

The snapshot Vadim just posted exhibits an odd behavior.
Suppose I start typing an address in the To: field and
press Tab for expansion.  A dialogue window opens up,
offering possible tab-completion matches.  But the cursor
does not return to normal: is becomes an hourglass and
stays like that.  It can be used normally, so functionality
does not seem to be lost.  But it is odd.
