Dear Sam,

Thank you very much for your response. I installed maildrop by compiling the 
source file with the following configuration :-

./configure --enable-maildrop-uid=vmail --enable-maildrop-gid=vmail --enable-maildirquota 
 --with-etcdir=/etc/maildrop --with-devel

After keeping the maildroprc file in the directory /etc/maildrop the spam 
mails are being  delivered to the .Spam directory.
