Re: .mailfilter rule mysteriously not followed

Thanks for the advice about the syntax... has helped but it has not
stopped mail to [email protected] ending up in .INBOX.lists
instead of .INBOX.Internode. Removing the To $LISTS rule fixes it, ie sees
the mail ending in .INBOX.internode as desired, but is not a practical
option.

Also:
- have examined the emails and can't find anything in the body of these
email that would trigger a cross match.
- have tried turning off polling of mydomain but mail to
[email protected] still ends up in $LISTS

Relevant snips:
LISTS="$HOME/Maildir/.INBOX.lists"
INTERNODE="$HOME/Maildir/.INBOX.Internode"

if (/^To:.*lists@mydomain\.com\.au/)
{
  to $LISTS
}

if (/^(To|Cc|Bcc):.*michaeldaly@internode\.on\.net\.*/)
{
  to $INTERNODE
}
Thanks
Michael

You munged your mail filter file, but that's ok.

You need to fix all your rules. The above pattern means, literally: if the
message contains a header that starts with "To", or "Cc", or with
"Bcc:.*md@mydomain\.com\.au", then…

Pretty much every email message has a header that starts with "To",
including this one, so this would match pretty much everything. You
probably
wanted to use /^(To|Cc|Bcc):.*md@mydomain\.com\.au/
