They have found time in their busy schedules, and there has recently been the new, updated maildrop package available in Gentoo. I recently found out about it and posted about it: (the post is on the page already linked previously, but retitled) Maildrop updated after a little false alarm ;-) https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1027610.html#78199 It is based on the original package: maildrop-2.8.3.tar.bz2 and only the patch: maildrop-1.8.1-disable-fam.patch applied, in case one wishes to disable fam (which, e.g. I didn't do). So I'm kind of glad that my wrong assumptions have, apparently, helped to produce a good result, the new maildrop for Gentooers. Still, sorry again for the disruption that I caused. I hope it wasn't so excessive.
