This test checks what happens when text cannot be converted to a differen=
t =20
character set. The expected result is that the non-convertible text gets =20
skipped. Your output shows that, instead, non-convertible characters get =20
replaced by asterisk characters.

That's all that can be determined, based on the above. courier-unicode do=

need to know when text cannot be properly converted from one encoding to =20
another. Pretending that everything is cool, and just replacing the non-=20
convertible characters with placeholder characters, is not cool.

Some further investigation would be needed to understand the difference i=
n =20
behavior, and figure out the solution.
