How to configure MD to send GW appointments?

When a secretary sends out a GroupWise (GW) appointment using one of our MD lists as recipient, each recipient recieves the item as an email rather than an appointment which can be accepted or denied. Is there a way to get appointments to continue onto the recipients in the list as appointments rather than as email? The email that was intented as an appointment currently is being sent as email as follows with the appointment information (Item Type:, Start Date:, etc) in the body of the email. How to get the item to come through system as an actual GroupWise appointment? I realize that some of the records in the list may not have GroupWise accounts, but most would.
