More on permissions

Removing write permissions from the files in the lists directory, yet 
leaving everything 775, I get:

MAJORDOMO ABORT (mj_resend)!!

shlock: '/spare/usr/local/majordomo/lists' is not writable by UID 1 
GID 1

Now what?
