Adding a web-search function for my list

I run a Majordomo run mailing list and also have a supporting website 
which I'm in the process of updating.

I'd like the site to be searchable; not just the website but including 
all archived list messages. I assume I need to contact the system 
administrator to install a CGI-BIN script or something, but I thought 
I'd save him the time doing the research beforehand myself.
