Indigestion problem

I just got a complaint that some digests show the message subjects and 
some do not. I'm running alpine so here's the difference I see between two 
digests where one is "good" and one is "bad". I think we have a problem 
because they are inconsistent. Note that the "bad" one does not have 
subject text matter. The value of the digest_index_format setting is 
subject. It *looks* like when it messes up it's trying to only display the 
message number.

Any ideas?
