I think there are quite a few of us love the general =93Vibe=94 of MJ2.  =
Sadly it=92s obsolete software, and you get all the problems that come =
with obsolescence on modern OSs/configurations.  That means, for all =
practical purposes, that I=92m not using it. :(

I have had very, very unclean thoughts about buying LISTSERV(R) *.  =
Being nonprofit, these thoughts are not ones I like to entertain very =
much, but when Mailman/Sympa are the only remaining options and our =
members complain about the inflexibility of both, I fear that I must put =
it on the cards, or snap and write something for myself.  Fact is that =
deferring everything to a web interface, and storing your data in =
non-portable formats (or requiring RDBMSs!!!) just suck as options for =
running many highly-moderated, small virtual-hosted lists from a single =
computer.  Rumours that Mailman 3 will somehow save us don't inspire me; =
they have no planned web interface, which would be good news in and of =
itself, but the mediocre performance of MM2 says to me that we will =
probably be putting up with more of the same nonsense going forward.  =
This having been said, the people have apparently spoken=97web hosts are =
using Mailman, and there is a tendency to reject anything that is not on =
the web and doesn=92t produce high-impact results, regardless of =
inflexibility.  Therefore I can=92t imagine a repeat of something like =
MJ2, except to serve a very small minority of discerning listmasters.

I just looked over Sympa again, and they do appear to have got somewhat =
better since I last looked (LDAP, sqlite).  It=92s still web-based =
though, and you still need a separate DMARC patch.  You might like to =
check it out.
