Do you have any more details on this problem? I don't see any mention
of it on the stunnel-users mail archive [1]. There is a macports
ticket on it [2], but so far no response.

What I find puzzling about your “tries to link libwrap” diagnosis is
that stunnel 4.33 also uses libwrap, and it works without problem.
