[mew-int 3024] Marks and imap

I have a feature request for Christmas this year. The thing is, as I
am beginning to access my mail (on an IMAP server) not only using mew,
but also using other mail clients, most notably my iPad and iPhone
mail clients, I discover that I am not happy about the way mew handles
the * mark, variously called review and target in the documentation.

The problem is that this mark is syncronized with the \Flagged flag on
the imap server, which in turn shows up as a raised flag in my iP*
devices.

Now, a flag to flag messages which need further attention is a great
thing to have. I expect I am not alone in virtually drowning in email,
and occassionally losing an important message in the deluge because I
didn't have time to deal with it right away, and then it got lost in
the clutter.

The problem is that I use the * mark in Mew a lot, for much more
casual uses! Such as looking at messages with a common subject with
the m r keystrokes, or any of a myriad uses of the * mark. But then,
every time I use the * mark for such purposes, I mess up the \Flagged
status of messages on the server, rendering this useless.

Hence my Christmas wish for this year: I want a new mark, whose only
purpose in life is to synchronize with \Flagged on the imap server.
And of course I'd like a selection of convenient ways to set and unset
this mark, including a way to flag all messages with the * mark. The *
mark should be allowed to overlay the new mark, so that there may be a
command for unflagging all messages with the * mark on them.

(I realize that Christmas is not a Japanese holiday, and frankly I
don't care much for it myself, being a heathen and all. But the winter
solstice is always worth celebrating. I expect Japan too has some sort
of celebration at or near the winter solstice?)
