No idea.  There wasn't a reply yet.

I *always* need it!  My trash folder usually contains a few thousand
emails, and the difference w.r.t. speed is extreme: Without the above
command, updating a buffer it is approx. 80 times slower, and
navigation is near to impossible due to its slowness.
