issues with OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion

Hi. Having stability issues in Mountain Lion. Upgraded two days ago. New Drive. New installation. CPU is a Mac Pro 4.1 w/ 20gigs of RAM. I use imap protocol w/ all my email accounts. Seems to be OK with downloading, reading, moving, deleting, etc. Issues appear to be with editing functions. Crashes every time when using the "Spelling" applet. Though inconsistent, it's crashes often when cutting & pasting. Given that it's only appeared thus far with outgoing mail, could it be an SMTP communications issue? Thanks.
